Chris is a commercial litigator with over 35 years’ experience of running complex cases for commercial clients and organising teams of lawyers in large cases. Chris has dealt with all aspects of commercial litigation including domestic and international arbitration.
Chris was head of litigation at the London office of Maclay Murray & Spens for 20 years from 1997 to 2017 where he started the commercial litigation practice from scratch and built it up to a highly successful team with 5 litigation partners and supporting fee earners.
The success of Maclays’ London litigation practice resulted in his team being instructed in many high profile and complex litigation when Chris was head of department.
Chris acted for a range of commercial clients on a regular basis including listed companies such as Thomson Reuters, John Menzies Plc and the Private & Commercial Group.
He also acted for two international airlines based in the Middle East in two high profile arbitrations.
Chris has been an ADR Group qualified mediator since 2005.

Acting for a company involved in complex litigation in the High Court arising from the demerger to two businesses.
Advising a start-up company which was involved in High Court litigation and negotiating a favourable settlement of the dispute.
Chris was appointed to act as an arbitrator by the ADR Group in a number of disputes under their Consumer Arbitration rules.
For AF Decom in a large claim against Shell in relation to the decommissioning of five gas platforms in the North Sea.
For the two Middle Eastern airlines outlined above in two arbitrations, the outcome of which was of considerable interest to airlines in the Middle East.
Chris acted for the European Commission in litigation involving EU aid to an NGO.
